Plateau Photo Tours is a photo tourism company that specializes exclusively on unique, authentic, high quality
cultural and socially responsible photo tours on the Tibetan Plateau. We believe in providing local Tibetans with skills, experience, and jobs that not only preserve a beautiful
culture that is in rapid decline, but also give Tibetans the ability to stand on their own in an inevitably modernizing society.
Plateau Photo Tours was started with the firm belief that it's better to actually help than to complain.
One of the unique advantages that Plateau Photo Tours offers is the fact that we actually live and work on the Tibetan Plateau. We have over 10 years of experience
in tourism on the Tibetan plateau.
Our employees all come from either nomadic families or the cultural hearts of the areas we tour. Our foreign staff have all spent significant time traveling the Tibetan plateau
and a few have been fortunate enough to do work for organizations such as Lonely Planet Publications, Frommers Travel Guides, Fodor's Guidebooks,
DK Eyewitness Travel, BBC, Animal Planet, and the Discovery Channel.
We also employee staff with industry background in web design, graphic design, and photography - we know what people are looking
for in a photography tour, because WE are looking for it too.
All of our local staff are trained in photography, marketing, and business. Our local staff are amazing people who are fluent in English, Tibetan, and Chinese and have a deep
desire to help their own people better themselves all while putting food on the table.
Plateau Photo Tours has been active and will continue to be active in community development projects throughout the Tibetan plateau.
We are excited to have the opportunity in 2010 to partner with Frontier Treks India, David duChemin, and Matt Brandon to provide Lumen Dei tours to the Tibetan Plateau.
